For those who enjoy the water, fine sailing can be found on Rutland Water with hire available from Rutland Watersports Centre. Rowers, kayakers, paddleboarders and canoers’ are also catered for, and windsurfing tuition for the more adventurous.
For cycle enthusiasts, miles and miles (25 to be precise) of traffic-free tracks around Rutland Water – and if you still have the energy there is also Braunston, a quiet nearby alternative. Didn’t bring your own bike? Not a problem, you can hire from nearby Whitwell on the shores of Rutland Water, they stock a wide selection (including electric options). Whether you are a seasoned rider or opt for a more leisurely day out, the roads and tracks surrounding Hambleton Hall are perfect for everyone.
For those who prefer to see things on foot, the same cycle tracks are also a walkers’ and runner’s paradise with stunning scenery everywhere you turn. Follow the trail along the peninsula spotting Normanton Church, before heading up Lyndon Road and back to the hotel for a well-earned rest.
What is more British than strawberries, cream and Wimbledon – when not watching the action, tennis fans can perfect their serves and volleys, taking in the scenic views at the same time from our enclosed hardcourt, working up an appetite before dining with us in our Michelin-starred restaurant.
